Time Keeping Through the Ages

clock_scaled Beautiful Clocks The Huntsville Chapter (Chapter 61) of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) will showcase a collection of antique clocks and watches for Burritt Mansion’s summer exhibit. Time Keeping Through the Centuries opens April 30 and will display four main categories of clocks and watches from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Each century will be well represented by an eclectic assortment of clocks and watches from some of the major clock making countries of the world, both East and West.

On display will be wall clocks, mantle clocks, and a circa 1900 American electric clock, among others. Makers that will be included are Junghans, Gustav Becker and Seth Thomas. Members of Chapter 61 – The Rocket City Regulators - have helped us maintain Dr. Burritt’s Long Case Clock that sits in the foyer of the mansion. It has recently been reworked and is running beautifully. Touch up painting was also preformed on the moon dial during this recent restoration. Stop by to view what is to be a fascinating exhibit and make sure you stick around long enough to hear the delicate chimes of Dr. Burritt’s clock. The exhibit will run April 30 – August 15 and is included in general admission.
